Description

An education program to help family and friends caring for older adults with long-term health conditions. Classes are taught in small groups by trained class leaders. Classes meet once a week.


Focuses on improving self-care by learning a new set of skills or "tools."
Topics include:
* Taking care of you
* Identifying and reducing personal stress
* Communicating feelings, needs, and concerns
* Communicating in challenging situations
* Learning from emotions
* Mastering caregiving decisions

Eligibility

Family caregivers of older adults with disabilities or long-term health conditions. Caregivers may be caring for a spouse or partner, or adult children caring for parents.


The older adult you are caring for can be living with you, in a nearby community or across the country.


Fees

A sliding fee scale payment or contribution is requested for the class manual.
